They would sleep a lot and you could sit back with a cup of tea, enjoying lunch in peace. But now you’re tired all the time and your hair is falling out. During those rare baby naps, you’re taking care of chores instead of taking care of yourself.

We have become some what experts on flying with her and she has also become very good at being on a plane. She now knows when we hop on she has to do up her seat belt and recently even learnt to buckle it herself.

Even before our babies are born we are bombarded with information regarding sleep for baby. When I was pregnant I couldn’t wait to get my old body back, not for the appearance but for the feeling of having my body back to myself. I wanted to feel comfortable, strong and stable again. In those last few months I felt like my tummy skin and muscles were stretched to their limits, my pelvis ached and I felt like I was constantly going to topple forward.

Over and over again I see Mamas feeling guilty or being tried to made feel guilty that they didn't get to have a natural birth. I am a caesarean mama - I'm actually an elective caesarean mama. I was tried to be made feel guilty by midwives, Health care nurses, lactation consultants and even my own family.

About a month ago I realised something - I was having a bit of an identity crisis.
Since having Millie even though I have grown immensely as a person mentally I had lost myself in the nappy changes, topknots, active wear all day and #mumlife daily routine. I stopped caring about or forgot about my own personal goals, my career , I was caring less about things that I usually loved to do and even in a way I was so much less focused on my relationships with my husband and friends. My whole focus was on being "Mum."

There is a lot of information out there regarding PND (Post Natal Depression) which is fantastic as we create awareness, we can help the many mothers out there who suffer from this mental illness. But we do not hear much about depression or anxiety during pregnancy even though it is thought that up to 10% of pregnant women actually have antenatal depression. Is it because we are scared to admit that even though we are told its meant to be the happiest time in our lives, sometimes it's just not?
For me this was the case.

10 Things I Miss About Not Being a Mum!
I’m in the middle of a body image crisis. It’s been 10 weeks since I gave birth to my second child, and before she was born I was so sure about how this whole postpartum recovery deal was going to go down. Wow, was I naïve! After the birth of my first child, when I was 19, my figure returned within weeks. Just like everyone told me, breastfeeding seemed to make all 17kgs of baby weight melt off. My recovery from the birth was slow as I’d had a physically traumatic birth, but a few walks around the block with the pram once I was able to seemed to be enough to get me back to my pre-baby weight of 50kg and looking like I’d never had a baby.
Now, I don’t say any of this to brag – of course at the time I was well pleased - but rather to show how high my expectations were for round 2.

1. Sleep - Full nights of sleep, going to bed early , Saturday afternoon naps, Sleeping in on Sunday's. A sleep in is now anything until 8am if we are lucky. They told me "nap when your baby naps" , yeah right when my baby naps I have to do clean the path of destruction the child has just created, do the house work, wash the clothes, prepare meals and possibly get 2 minutes alone to have a hot shower.
